Publishing a Photobook has Never Been Easier

We live in fortunate times. As photographers, the tools we have avaiable to us are better than ever. One might think however, the tools are taking over the industry. I personally don't think that is the case. The best tools in the world never made and expert chef, machinist, carpenter, author or photographer. Time spent honing skills and abilities is the only way to become a master of anything.

Still, the internet is all a buzz with and people drool all over the plastic, fantastical, surreal AI creations. And that fine, but the creations are soulless and lack the ability to inspire.

Because to the powerful tools that are now available to photographers, publishing a book to showcase and archive our human creations has never been easier. For example, I just finished my third photobook, and it was pretty easy. The toughest part was culling, selecting and arranging the images in a way that makes sense.

I started with about 300 images that were fresh in my mind, culled them down to 50+ I chose for this 11x17 wire bound photobook. Magcloud provides a template for Word and other publishing programs. It works perfectly.

From there, the file was converted to a .pdf that I uploaded to MagCloud. I did an online preview and ordered a preview copy. The preview copy arrieved a couple weeks later. I decided to make a few edits, resubmit, and publish.

The paper and presentation in the book is great and the total cost is less than i could print the images myself or have them printed. This could easily be my new way to archive and share my work. Blurb, a publishing company that acquired MagCloud around 2014 also offeres great self-publishing tools and is the company I used to publish my first two books, The Art and Artists of Pueblo Colorado https://www.blurb.com/b/11354352 and Lake Pueblo State Park https://www.blurb.com/b/11908295
